Mark your calendars—this year’s AGM is one you won’t want to miss. Hear updates on our work, recent accomplishments, and plans for the year ahead. Featuring guest speaker Dr. Anabela Bonada from the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation, who leads research connecting science, risk assessment, and policy to support practical climate solutions.
Protecting What We Love in a Changing Climate
Climate change is increasingly disrupting conservation work across the region — from flooding and ice storms to drought, extreme heat, and wildfire smoke that affect natural areas, volunteers, and long-term land stewardship.
In this presentation, Dr. Anabela Bonada will connect recent local climate impacts to practical, evidence-based climate adaptation strategies developed by the Intact Centre on Climate Adaptation. Drawing on applied tools and best practices, the presentation will highlight how land trusts and communities can reduce flood, wildfire, heat, and erosion risks while strengthening resilience across landscapes. The presentation will also share clear, accessible information to support local officials in planning and decision-making, alongside practical actions residents can take to protect their homes and communities. Attendees will leave with actionable steps to mobilize adaptation efforts and protect natural infrastructure such as wetlands.

Let’s go birding on the Lake Dalrymple Alvar property that we are working to protect!
Jean travels to many parts of the world studying and enjoying wildlife, human history and digital photography. Her photos are featured in many nature publications. When not leading trips, Jean is much sought as a speaker at nature clubs and festivals.
A link to register will be shared via our monthly newsletter in early April. Sign up here
Please note that the road to access the property is very bumpy, and we strongly recommend a high clearance vehicle. The terrain of the landscape is mostly flat, and you have to watch for grykes and breaks in the limestone. Be aware of biting insects and be prepared for ticks.
