Join Bob Bowles to explore the Lake Dalrymple Alvar. The Couchiching Conservancy is raising $1,643,700 to protect 430-acres on Lake Dalrymple with 1.9km of shoreline. The property closes on May 28, 2026. Bob has been advocating for its protection, and believes that this is “the best example of the rarest habitat in the world is found right here in Simcoe County”. This property protection is a part of the Conservancy’s multi year effort to protect priority habitat through the Land for Life campaign.
Important Notes:
– Please be prepared for outdoor conditions, wear appropriate footwear, bring water, etc.
– Be prepared for biting insects such as ticks.
– The terrain is gravel and level. The group may be walking off trail, in which are you need to watch for breaks in the limestone.
– The road into the property is VERY bumpy and you absolutely need to be in a high clearance vehicle such as an SUV. We will be carpooling, and if you have a high clearance vehicle, you will be asked to take people in your vehicle with our thanks!
– There is no washroom on site.
