The Couchiching Conservancy is a non-profit charitable land trust that has helped to protect 15,135 acres of environmentally significant land in the Couchiching region. The Conservancy’s mandate is to protect the special natural features of the region for present and future generations, and we achieve this goal through land acquisition and stewardship projects. We are currently responsible for the stewardship and management of 58 nature reserves and conservation easements. We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and reconciliation.

About the Project: We’re looking for two reliable and hard-working labourers to assist with the construction of a roadside EcoPassage—an environmentally focused wildlife crossing that helps reduce vehicle-wildlife collisions and supports habitat connectivity. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to an important conservation project with real ecological impact.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation of wildlife friendly culvert modifications and fencing.
  • Load, unload, and move construction materials and equipment.
  • Perform site clean-up and general labour tasks.
  • Follow all safety protocols and project guidelines.
  • Work in a team under the supervision of the site lead.

Requirements:

  • Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in outdoor conditions
  • Experience in construction or outdoor labour is an asset
  • Able to work safely around roadside traffic and equipment
  • Steel-toe boots preferred; other PPE will be provided.
  • Reliable transportation to and from the site
  • Must be legally able to work in Ontario, Canada with a valid SIN number.

Work Conditions:

  • Outdoor work environment near a roadway
  • Variable weather conditions
  • Monday–Friday, approx. 8-hour shifts
