Our thanks to all who registered, attended and watched the recording of our Annual General Meeting! Over 270 people were involved this year.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Executive Director, Mark Bisset, welcomed everyone to our second virtual Meeting;
  • Lisa Neville, Board Member & Secretary, reviewed the minutes of the last Meeting;
  • Neil Gray, President of the Board, shared warm thanks to supporters and volunteers. He shared updates on our staff team, and special recognition of volunteers David A. Homer, Doug Christie and James K. Stewart.
  • Bob Sullivan, Board Member & Treasurer, gave insights into the Audited Financial Statements;
  • Appointed Hehn Trickey as the 2022 auditor;
  • The incoming Board of Directors was voted in and confirmed;
  • Mark Bisset shared highlights from the year, including:
    • The connections between the Migrations in Motion mapping & Circuit Theory;
    • Mapping that shows the importance of our region for species migration;
    • The growth of the wild places we protect since our formation in 1993 thanks to supporters;
    • New Nature Reserves – Cedarhurst Alvar, Marley, Nicholson & an add-on to the Agnew Reserve;
    • Work being done in Oro West, with two easements;
    • Insights from the Indigenous-led BioBlitz;
    • Volunteers in action – in the dark, in the daylight, in the rain and in the sun;
    • Thanks to sponsors & foundations.
  • Julia Zarankin, author of the Field Notes from an Unintentional Birder, shared her wonderful enthusiasm for birding (She certainly had everyone excited for the years coming migration!)
