Fundraise for nature

Image

Giving back to nature is good for us all. Raising funds for conservation is a perfect way to give back to something you care about, involve your friends and family, and avoid more 'stuff'.

Some ideas:
  • Collect donations in lieu of gifts at your birthday, wedding, anniversary or other event
  • Host an event to raise awareness of local issues

Jessica and Matt Mason

They had their engagement photos done in Grant’s Woods, along the snowy trails and trees with their dog Orwell. At their wedding, where they had an outdoor ceremony, they opted to give back to causes close to their hearts rather than give gifts to their guests. People got to add their “chip” to a bucket to pick the charity their gift would go towards. What a great idea!

“Being able to have our engagement photos taken in Orillia meant a lot to us, and it was amazing to have such a beautiful place to go. Visiting Orillia and exploring the outdoors has been a big part of our relationship from the start – we can’t wait to continue to visit Grant’s Woods and other Couchiching properties in the years to come!”

Cameron Curran

Cameron has a big love of the Carden Alvar, having grown up in the area. Cam has helped further land trust efforts over the years and shares his photography skills as well. Starting in 2018, he decided to create a calendar of some of these images, with a portion supporting conservation efforts in our region.

“I choose to donate $2.00 from every nature photography calendar I sell to the Couchiching Conservancy as an effort to do my part in protecting important habitat, like the Carden Alvar. It is important for me to “walk the talk” and contributing proceeds is one way I can exude my gratitude for the natural environment.”
