In celebration of Earth Day this week, we are thrilled to announce the launch of our 10th annual Passport to Nature program! 🎉

The popular Passport to Nature program invites you to get out, connect and protect nature with free and low-cost events all year round. 🌿

Physical booklets will be available at Grant’s Woods Nature Reserve and at locations around the region in mid-May. The digital booklet and online event registration are now available on our website - link in bio!

We all know...that every single day is Earth Day..

Every day, we need clean air, drinkable water, food, a vibrant future, healthy ecosystems... the list goes on.

BUT we will definitely take the chance to celebrate this beautiful Earth and thank the people who make it possible to protect nature today and every day.

So to every single one of you who follow us on social media and donate your time, money and/or energy to protecting the precious natural habitats and species of our region....THANK YOU. We absolutely could not accomplish all that we do without your support. All of the successes we share are YOUR successes.

People across the world prepared for and celebrate

People across the world prepared for and celebrated the solar eclipse on April 8, but what were wildlife doing? How did their behaviour change during this rare occurance?

That was the question that spurred on a few of our staff to venture out on the solar eclipse day to get an understanding of wildlife behaviour. Since total eclipses are a rare occurrence, it is important to gather data concerning animal behaviour, so staff contributed to the SciStarter Project.

Our Youth Stewardship Coordinator, Alysha has been

Our Youth Stewardship Coordinator, Alysha has been busy this winter promoting our new youth program! Here she is presenting at Lakehead University, Georgian College, and Patrick Fogarty Secondary School.

The Couchiching Conservancy is offering a new youth community science program that will provide opportunities for local youth (between the ages of 15 and 30 years old) to participate in conservation projects. The Angela Rehhorn Commemorative Project will allow youth to be involved in making roads safer for wildlife and removing fences on the landscape, and will also introduce them to options available for a career in conservation.
