I know. It snowed. Some of us are elated, and we love to rub it in the faces of our friends who are ‘displeased’. And I know that normally we at The Couchiching Conservancy are telling you to get outside and get into nature and enjoy the beauty of the first snow fall… but today I am not going to do that to you. Today, in the spirit of ‘give the people what they want’ I am going to try to entice you to join us at two warm, cozy indoor events!

The Couchiching Conservancy will be holding the 3rd “Nuts for Nature” family funfest at the Carden Recreation Centre this coming Sunday, June 11 from 9 am to 4 pm. The focus is on kids and their exposure to the natural world.
This is just one possibility of sightings and experiences that you could encounter when you attend a Passport to Nature event at one of the 45 properties that The Couchiching Conservancy helps to protect.
It’s around 5:30 pm on Friday and the teams are starting to gather at the cabin. Tents are being pitched, cars parked and tally sheets distributed. It’s nearly time for the Carden Challenge to start.

Passport to Nature offers a window on the wilds of the region through a year-round series of free events that include guided hikes, canoe trips, photography and astronomy outings and much more.
There are 365 days in a year. That’s 52 weeks, 8760 hours or 525,600 minutes. For the supporters, volunteers and staff of The Couchiching Conservancy, that time is dedicated to protecting some of the wild landscapes in our region.
This year the Annual General Meeting is to be held on February 4th from 1:30-4:30 pm at Hawk Ridge Golf and Country Club.
