Background:
Charles Grant and his sisters, Sandra and Kerry, donated this property in 1996 at the same time as Grant Wetland. This wetland, just north of the Orillia City boundary, is a good example of a wooded swamp with a mix of coniferous and deciduous species.
Landscape and Species:
- low lying wooded swamp on deep organic soils with spring flooding
- treed by a mix of coniferous and deciduous species, including white cedar, balsam fir, tamarack, white pine and white birch
- home to a variety of birds including white-throated sparrow, red-eyed vireo and ruffed grouse
- several species of wildflowers and ferns typical of cool swamps

Address & Parking: From Orillia, follow Laclie Street to Sundial Drive and turn right . Turn left onto Huronia Road and continue until Cunningham Crescent and Wilson Point Road. Look for conservancy signs on the right.
Best time to visit: summer, but beware of Poison Ivy! Be prepared for expected conditions (mosquitoes in the spring-summer, damp in the spring and fall, etc). The mosquitos and black flies are fierce!
