Dear Friends,
We hope you are all somewhere safe and warm.
Due to the recent ice storm and State of Emergency currently in place in our region, the Grant’s Woods office is closed and without power.
All staff are at home and safe, but dealing with the complexities of this emergency. We have varying levels of access to hydro and internet and will need time to respond to your inquiries.
Orillia Mayor Don McIsaac has warned residents that it may be the end of the week before power is restored.
All Conservancy nature reserves are closed to the public until we can evaluate the damage and determine if conditions are safe for entry. So far what we know is that the Grant’s Woods office and gazebo are undamaged, but the trails are strewn with fallen branches and trees.
At this point in time, we anticipate being able to proceed with the re-scheduled Annual General Meeting this Sunday April 6th from 2 – 4 pm at Hawk Ridge Golf Club. Watch for emails, social media, and website updates.
The survival impact on local plants and animals will have been great, and our thoughts are with them, as they are with you.
